FOREX GOLD CHARTS
how to create an Exchange Rate Chart in Excel?
I’m trying to create a chart for an exchange rate between any 2 assets. You can easily see charts like this on any forex website, like a EUR/USD chart for example.
But I want to create my own exchange rate, like let’s say: $Lumber/$Gold, or $Cattle/$Hog.
I have the 2 columns of price data for each commodity, but I don’t know what to do with them! For some reason this should be really simple, but it’s just not coming to me.
Can someone enlighten me? Thanks
just division when comparing 2 items
A1 = $ Gold
B1 = € Gold
A2 = 868.80 (thats dollars for 1 ounce of gold as of 4/18/9)
B2 = 666.26 (thats euros for 1 ounce of gold)
C2 gets this formula
=B2/A2
that shows .766874 or $1 = €.766 euros
or =A2/B2 shows 1.303995 or 1 euro is worh $1.30
these#’s are based on the price of gold… on a side note, it should be real close to what you can excahange the 2 currencies for. if theres differences, thats where “arbitragers” will take advantage.
from that, you can figure out how much board feet of lumber that you get for $1, and you know thats .76 euros. or how many ounces of gold you need to buy the lumber…whatever you want.
